A Love Letter to My Bobby, Christina, and
All Who Make a Difference

By: Goldy Goldstein | Melbourne

Several years ago, I had the opportunity to attend a cancer supportive retreat, which combined bonding with educational services.  We ladies started out as strangers, but our commonality brought us together, through laughter and tears.

We found that although we fought the same fight, the battlefield was not always equal.  A cancer diagnosis can shake a person’s entire world.  Support from family, friends, and the community can help carry the burden, while a lack of support can deepen loneliness and emotional pain.

Support can be a lifeline for a cancer patient.  When a person feels loved, heard, helped, he can often cope better emotionally, may have a better experience during treatment.

Conversely, when a person with cancer receives little or no support, he can feel overwhelmed, isolated, more depressed, which makes the fight ever so much harder to win.  Therefore, support does not just comfort the patient; it can give them dignity, and strengthen their hope and will to fight harder!

Cancer will challenge and attack the body, but support provides protection for the spirit! I am one of the lucky ones!  I had my Bobby by my side throughout my battle, and I am so grateful!  Live Inspired Brevard, with Christina at its helm, understands because of her own experience.  She is there to stand with, and lend a hand to, those reaching out to her.

All the heroes helping those suffering, understand.

Medals given out for this war would read:
